The engagement, walked through

What the first 90 days look like.

You hire an IT department and the obvious question is what actually happens next. Here is the walkthrough: the first week, then day 30, day 60 and day 90. This is the standard plan we work from, told the way we would tell you on the phone.

Three things to know before you read on

A plan, written down

This page describes our standard first 90 days. Yours gets adjusted at the audit, in writing, before any work starts — a two-person office and a three-clinic group need different first months.

You can stop at any step

The engagement runs month to month, and 30 days notice in writing ends it. The audit findings from week one are yours to keep, even if week one is where it ends.

One figure, one document

Where this site names a price, it is a published price from the pricing page. Anything else you want a number on, we put in writing at the audit before you commit.

Week 1

The audit, and a list you keep

What happens

We come and see how you work. We list every computer, server, account and subscription, note what is at risk, and write it all up in plain words. This is the free audit, and it happens before any contract.

What we do

  • Walk the office and list every machine, account and subscription you pay for.
  • Check the backups and try restoring a file, so we know whether they actually work.
  • Find out who holds the passwords, the domain and the licences.
  • Write the findings into one plain-word document, with the fixes ranked by risk.
Days 1–30

Stabilize: stop things from breaking quietly

What happens

The first month goes to the risks at the top of the list. Before anything gets prettier, the business gets safer: data protected, machines current, and one person answering when something goes wrong.

What we do

  • Set the backups to run on a schedule, then test a restore to prove they run.
  • Patch every machine and turn on updates, so known holes get closed.
  • Give your team one number and one email that a person answers.
  • Gather the passwords and admin access into one managed place, off the sticky notes.
Days 31–60

Streamline: work through the fixes list

What happens

With the floor solid, the second month goes to the rest of the audit’s list, in the order it was ranked. The everyday annoyances — the printer, the wifi, the mailbox that fills up — get worked in alongside. At month’s end, the first report lands.

What we do

  • Work the fixes list from the top down, and mark each item done in writing.
  • Clear the small daily irritations your team has learned to live with.
  • Send the first monthly report in plain words: what broke, what we did, what comes next.
  • Ask what the report should show more of, and change it for the next one.
Days 61–90

Steady state: the department just runs

What happens

By the third month the routine holds on its own: monitoring watches, backups run, the report lands. We close the 90 days by bringing you a plan for the year ahead, priced item by item, and you choose what happens and when.

What we do

  • Write the plan for the year: what to replace, what to buy, what can safely wait.
  • Put a price next to each item, in writing, before you commit to any of it.
  • Keep the monthly report coming, in the shape you asked for.
  • Carry on month to month — 30 days written notice ends it at any point.

After day 90, the rhythm holds

The report keeps landing every month. The plan for the year gets revisited when your business changes, and each new item gets its price in writing before it starts. The monthly fee itself is published — you can read it before we ever speak.

Ask us to call you back.

Two fields, your name and your number. A person calls you back the same business day, usually within an hour. If you would rather start with a written read on your setup, the infrastructure audit is free — that is week one, and it commits you to nothing.

Ask us to call you back

Leave your name and number. A real person calls you back the same business day, usually within an hour.

We use your number to call you back about your request. Nothing else.
