IT support in Ottawa, in English or in French

We look after the machines, the email, the files and the backups for businesses across Ottawa and Gatineau, and the whole relationship runs in whichever of the two languages your people prefer. Leave your name and number and a person calls you back the same business day, usually within an hour.

Centretown, Kanata, Barrhaven, Orléans, and across the river in Gatineau — on-site visits arranged from Toronto.

What we cover in and around Ottawa

Our work in Ottawa runs from the offices and associations in Centretown out to the technology and engineering firms in Kanata, the clinics and professional offices in Barrhaven and Orléans, and across the river into Gatineau. Ottawa businesses often work in both languages in the same week, and the callback, the written work and the day-to-day support all come in English or French, whichever the person on your side prefers.

Ottawa has real winter, and a business here needs a plan for the week the roads close and everyone works from home. We build that plan on the ordinary days, so nobody discovers in February that half the staff cannot reach the files.

Where the work lands

  • Centretown and the ByWard Market area
  • Kanata and the west end
  • Barrhaven and Nepean
  • Orléans and the east end
  • Gatineau, across the river
  • The rest of the National Capital Region

The parts of Ottawa we work in, and who works there

Ottawa is a city of small professional organisations that sell to very large ones, and that shapes what your systems have to prove.

Centretown and the ByWard Market side

Associations, not-for-profits, law and accounting practices and small consultancies, a lot of them with government departments or large institutions on the client list. Their contracts arrive with questions about how your records are held, and those questions need written answers.

Kanata and the west end

Technology and engineering firms, many of them supplying a much larger company. When your client audits their suppliers, you are the supplier, and the audit lands on the systems you use every day.

Barrhaven and Nepean

Dental and medical practices, veterinary clinics, accountants and small brokerages in suburban plazas. Reception opens at eight, the practice software has to be up, and the patient records underneath it carry PHIPA.

Orléans and the east end

Businesses whose working day runs in French: clinics, professional practices, small firms and family businesses. The paperwork should run in French too, and here it does.

Gatineau, across the river

A Quebec address, with Quebec's own privacy law over the records kept there. If your business sits on both sides of the river, the two halves are covered by two different rules, and we write down which is which.

How quickly a person can be there

Start with the callback. Leave your name and number and a person calls you back the same business day, usually within an hour, and asks plain questions about what stopped working, in English or French. Most problems are handled on that call, over the connection we already hold to your machines.

When somebody has to be on site — a network closet, a new office to wire, a machine that will not power on — we agree the visit on that same call, arranged from Toronto, and you get the time in writing before anybody drives out. If your office is in Gatineau, say so on the callback and we plan the visit around the bridge.

A clock showing a short wait beside an answered message

How a visit works, four hundred and fifty kilometres from us

Our people work out of Toronto, so honesty about the road matters more here than a promise would.

The callback settles whether anyone travels

Leave your name and number and a person calls you back the same business day, usually within an hour, in English or French. Most Ottawa problems finish on that call, over the connection we already hold to your machines.

Ottawa is a booked day, not a same-morning drive

The road from Toronto is roughly four to five hours in decent weather, so an on-site day in Ottawa is planned ahead and used properly. We do everything possible over the connection first, then we bring the jobs that need hands into one visit.

The Gatineau side gets planned around the bridge

If the address is across the river, say so on the callback. The bridges decide the time of day a visit is worth making, and you get the window in writing before anybody sets out.

An office in Ottawa and a second one in Gatineau go on the same agreement, with the rules for each side written down separately.

Somebody in Ottawa calls, and we take it from there.

Same business day, usually within an hour

Your account lead answers the callback, knows your business by name, and stays on it after the first month.

The Ottawa businesses this is built for

Professional firms and associations

Member and client files kept in one place, billing that works at month end, and email nobody can impersonate. If a client of yours sends a security questionnaire, tell us on the callback and we say plainly which parts of it we can answer with you.

Clinics and health offices

Practice software, the appointment book and the machines at reception. Patient records in Ontario carry PHIPA, and we handle them that way: encrypted storage, access limited to named people, and a restore we test in front of you.

Training companies and schools

Classroom computers, learner log-ins and the September rush of new accounts, plus the records behind them. When a class starts in ten minutes, the log-ins have to work.

What the first week looks like for an Ottawa business

Week one settles two things: the language each person on your side works in, and what your clients are going to ask you to prove.

  1. Day one

    The callback, in your language

A person calls you back, asks what hurts most, and asks which language each of your people wants to work in. That choice is written down and it does not drift back to English three months later.

  2. Days two and three

    Eyes on the machines

Monitoring goes on the computers and the server, so alerts come to us instead of to your front desk. The quiet problems come out here: a backup that stopped, a machine on a system nobody patches, a shared folder half the office can open.

  3. End of the first week

The written plan, in either language

A plain list of what is at risk, what we fix first, what can wait, and what each part costs. If your clients send security questionnaires, we tell you now which answers you would fail and what it takes to change them.

  4. Before the first storm

    The work-from-home week

We check that the whole office can work from home for a week without moving a single file onto somebody's personal laptop. Ottawa gives you at least one of those weeks a year.

  5. From week two

    One named account lead

The same person stays on your account, works in your language, and answers when you call back.

The rules your records fall under here

Every business in Canada handles personal information under PIPEDA, and since 2018 that law has required you to report a breach that puts people at real risk of serious harm, tell the people affected, and keep a record of every breach for two years. In Ontario, health records carry PHIPA on top of that, and a health practice has to name a person responsible for those records. If part of your business sits in Gatineau, Quebec's own privacy law applies to that side, including naming a person in charge of protecting personal information and reporting confidentiality incidents to the province. We set your systems up to match on both sides of the river, and the written agreement covering all of it is signed before we get access to anything.

Questions owners ask us

If the answer you need is not here, leave your name and a person goes through it with you on the callback.

Ask us to call you back
Can we deal with you in French?

Yes. Ask for French on the callback and the call, the written summaries and the day-to-day support come in French. This whole site exists in both languages for the same reason.

Do you come out to Kanata or Gatineau, or is this all remote?

Both. The day-to-day work is done from our side, over the connection to your machines. When the problem needs hands we agree the visit time on the callback and put it in writing, and we plan around the bridge when the address is in Gatineau.

What does it cost an Ottawa business?

The price list is published. Essential Support is $3,400 CAD a month and Growth Operations is $8,900 CAD a month, for the whole business rather than per person. A full department is quoted after the free audit. The agreement runs month to month, with 30 days notice.

A client sent us a security questionnaire. Can you fill it in?

We answer the technical part, and we answer it honestly. Where the true answer is that you do not have something, it says so, together with what it would take to have it and what that costs. A questionnaire that gets a false yes costs you the client later, at a worse moment.

We have an office in Ottawa and one in Gatineau. Is that two contracts?

One agreement, one monthly price. The rules are what differ: the Ontario side is under PHIPA where health records are involved, and the Gatineau side falls under Quebec's privacy law. We write down which rule covers which records so both halves stand up on their own.
